From an album of soldier in Panzergruppe 4.
He belonged to
Aufklärungsabteilung 158 in 1939,
and later transferred to Panzergruppe 4.
Note the Totenkopf emblem (Aufklärer tradition)
attached on
Lt. Prinz Ernst August's cap.
The name Print Ernst August should be familiar to readers from germany.
Born in a noble family in Braunschweig in 1914 as a son of Herzog Ernst August.
He was heavily wounded in 1943 in Russian front but survived the war,had 6 children and died in 1987.

A
photograph
taken during
operation Barbarrosa shows
Generaloberst Hoepner.
To his left is Hauptmann Litterscheid and the driver
Oberfeldwebel Baumgard.
Interesting is the circled H on the fender of the motorcycle,
which denotes 4.Pz.AOK.
H is of course from the name of this Generaloberst.
